Our Story

(a quick look)

Late in 2004, Andy Hertz (far right) decides to try and set up college friend and roommate Claire, with his grad school friend and collaborator Mike.

Except for a few stolen glances, it was not until summer of 2005 that sparks began to fly.  Mike and Claire find out they share a birthday and host a joint celebration which becomes a pseudo first date.  Not long afterwards, Mike officially asks Claire out to dinner and a cabaret for their first real date.

And the adventure begins...

In 2006, Mike moves in with Claire!

We become like a sitcom… with guest stars...

In the summer of 2007, Claire and Mike move into their own place.  Though they miss Andy, they fall in love with their new home at the Princess Martha.

 

 

Claire says yes.

That same summer of 2006, Claire thinks it’s a good idea to take Mike to a Fougner Family Reunion in the middle of Amish Country.  

He valiantly  survives the Norwegians and middle-of-nowhere Ohio.  One might even say he had a good time.

That same year, Mike takes Claire to meet his family in Virginia.  They have a lovely time and learn a lot about George Washington and Mount Vernon.

On their joint birthday in 2008, Mike pops the question.

Many more adventures ensue, including cabarets, readings, national tours, 11 hour train rides to West Virginia, Scrabble marathons, surprise Christmas gifts, bowling, picnics, dinner parties and more.
